COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Join us for this introductory course covering the basics of printing on Canon printers with a color-managed workflow. You’ll walk away with the confidence to enter the lab and print on your own with minimal assistance, as well as two 8x 10” prints of your own work! Completing all three parts of the workshop is mandatory to be certified to print at LATITUDE as a DIY user.

Intro to Printing covers:

  • Getting to know LATITUDE!

  • Paper selection & handling 

  • File prep, resolution, & management

  • Photoshop print settings & ICC profiles

  • Printer settings & basic troubleshooting

Space is limited to 8 participants total so grab your spot early! For the in-person portion of the class, 2-time slots will be available to choose from ( 6-7:30pm OR 7:30-9:00pm CST). Each of those sessions will be capped at 4 attendees.

Accessibility notes: Frequent movements such as sitting at a computer workstation, standing at a printer, and trimming prints at the production table are a part of this workshop. Roll paper is loaded by staff and manual, top loading of individual sheets is optional. This workshop’s mobility can be reduced and/or limited by request. Refund Policy: For all LATITUDE courses, full payment is required to reserve your spot in the class. If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, LATITUDE can provide a 100% refund for cancellations made 10 days prior to the start date of the course. Cancellations made with less than the 7 day notice will be given a 100% lab credit. Cancellations made within 72 hours of class run will be given a credit for 50% of the purchase price which can be used for any lab purchases, including re-enrollment, in the future. No refund for cancellations made on the start day of the course and will be considered a donation to the space.

Ash Huse / Interim Deputy Director

Ash (They/Them) joined Latitude as a lab assistant from 2018-2019 and joined as Interim Deputy Director in 2024. As a queer lens-based artist Ash's body of work surrounds LGBTQ+ identity through portraiture. Their work also explores themes of queerness, transformation and mental illness through abstract and experimental photographic methods using music software, text/hex editing and rephotographing images on screens. They obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Photography at Columbia College Chicago and their MFA in Fine Art Photography at Columbia College Chicago.
