March 2014 Artist in Residency: Jason Reblando

LATITUDE's Artists in Residence program continues with our first resident of 2014, Jason Reblando. The recent Fulbright awardee is scanning and printing images from his series New Deal Utopias in preparation for a May-September exhibition at the City Gallery in the Historic Water Tower. Besides being a fantastic photographer/artist/professor, Jason is an all around wonderful human being who we're happy to have in the lab! Come by to say hi and see some of the series during Jason's lab time: during the day 3/12-3/14, 3/21-3/22, and 3/28-3/29 (check our calendar for more info). We're also planning a public conversation with Jason in conjunction with the exhibition, details TBA. 

Biographic info:

Jason Reblando (b. 1973, Flushing, NY) is an artist and photographer based in Chicago and Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. He received his MFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago, and a BA in Sociology from Boston College. After college, he worked as a community organizer in southern Oregon in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. He is a recipient of a Follett Fellowship from Columbia College Chicago, a Community Arts Assistance Program grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, and an Artist Fellowship Award from the Illinois Arts Council. He has produced radio stories for Eight Forty-Eight on Chicago Public Radio, and has been commissioned to create multimedia stories for various clients. His photographs are part of the collections in the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Midwest Photographers Project of the Museum of Contemporary Photography, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. He teaches photography at Illinois State University. He was recently awarded a Fulbright to work in the Philippines later in 2014.
