Reading Group: Dis/Ordering Senses

SAIC instructor Ruslana Lichtzier leads the latest edition of our bi-weekly reading group, scheduled on alternating Mondays from February 24th through May 26th. Topics will include using the body to read culture; skeptically considering cultural narratives from a variety of standings; and analyzing the historical classification of feminine mental disorders. Ruslana Lichtzier is a Chicago based artist, writer, curator and educator. Born in Russia and raised in Israel, she received her BFA with Honor from Bezalel, Academy for Fine Art and Design, Jerusalem, Israel, and her MA in Visual and Critical Studies from The School of The Art Institute, Chicago, with a Dean Scholarship. Her background is a principal force in shaping a cultural practice that is focused on creating new artistic, politically charged products, under a persistent reconsideration of the hegemonic canons. Currently, she is an instructor at SAIC, a Curatorial Fellow in the Chicago based Artists Cooperative Residency and Exhibitions - ACRE, where she is developing two group exhibitions. She is also at work on an independent project, Terrorists In The Library.
